The Kinki region is a region of Japan located in the central western part of Honshu. It consists of the former Kinai and its surrounding areas. It is the land of the royal castle from Namba Palace, Heijo Palace, and Heian Palace to the capital to Tokyo, and is currently the second largest metropolitan area and economic area in Japan after the Kanto region, and is the core of western Japan.
Refers to the seven prefectures of Osaka, Kyoto, Hyogo, Nara, Mie, Shiga, and Wakayama.
